Jim Davis (North Carolina politician)
James Wayland "Jim" Davis (born January 7, 1947) is a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, Davis earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Missionary College, now Southern Adventist University in 1969, and earned his DDS degree from Loma Linda University's School of Dentistry in 1974. In 1989, he graduated from Loma Linda with his MS in orthodontics.
Davis defeated three term incumbent John J. Snow, Jr. in the 2010 and 2012 elections. He defeated Jane Hipps in the 2014 election.
Davis serves on the following committees; Appropriations on General Government and Information Technology (Co-Chairman), Appropriations/Base Budget, Finance, Healthcare, Insurance, Judiciary II, State and Local Government (Co-Chairman), Transportation, Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on General Government, Joint Legislative Committee on Governmental Operations, Joint Legislative Committee on Local Government (Chairman), Committee on Market Based Solutions and Eliminations of Anti-Competitive Practices in Healthcare, and Municipal Incorporations Subcommittee of the Joint Legislative Committee on Local Government.
